Dettagli dell'evento
Optic Neurites constitute a heterogenous syndrome from an immunopathological, clinical and radiological point of view, often associated with the onset of acute (Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis) and chronic (Multiple Sclerosis, NMO-Spectrum Disorder, anti-MOG associated disorder) autoimmune inflammatory disorders affecting the Central Nervous System.
Optic Neuritis diagnosis is thus part of a multifaced picture, and it is particularly relevant to achieve within the complex differential diagnosis, the correct one. Several instrumental (MRI, OCT, VEP) and immunological (detection of anti-MOG and anti-AQ4 Ab) tools that help to achieve early the diagnosis of chronic and destabilizing disorders, also facilitating the beginning of specific disease-modifying drug, that are able to block the natura history of these disorders and that have been only recently approved.
The aim of this meeting is to share and update current diagnostic protocols, as well as neuropathologic, immunologic, and pharmacologic knowledge that may help the neurologist to achieve the correct diagnosis, giving prognostic clues to start an effective long-term therapeutic strategy.
